We slept in a little and went to breakfast around 8. The breakfast buffet was amazing! After we ate, we got ready to hike. We picked a shorter hike so that we could have time to relax around the hotel. We hiked to Doreen Falls. We took a slightly longer route so that it ended up being about 3-4 miles round trip. The home was rated as level A (easiest) and we were surprised because the first part of the hike was fairly difficult. However, we realized that we had added onto our hike and hadn’t gone the way we were supposed to. When we got to Doreen Falls, we spent a lot of time admiring them and taking photos.














We then hiked back the easy way to the Cathedral Peak Hotel. It was almost time for lunch so we waited in the hotel lobby for a bit. Lunch was tasty. When we were done, I went back and showered. We went to see the chapel where Tammy would love to get married. It was smaller than I anticipated but had a gorgeous view.








Tammy and I had $15 massages at 3:30. It was great other than the beginning when my lady’s hands were freezing.


After our massages, we went to afternoon tea on the terrace. They had really crumbly shortbread cookies, banana bread, and a poundcake that was partially dyed pink and green.



Next, we went to play putt putt. The course was right next to the bowling green. Our bush buck friend wanted to play with us.



Some of the holes were pretty challenging including steep hills, water traps, and tricky corners. We played all 18 holes, but we were getting cold by the end. The limit was 6 strokes and some of the holes were so hard that most of us would get to six strokes without making it in. On one hole, I rolled my ball up the hill and right into the hole in one stroke! I was shocked. Pure luck! By the end, Sandra and Ineike were so cold that they kept saying they got 6 on each hole before they had even tried because they just wanted the game to end. Tammy’s dad won.


We went to dinner and enjoyed another delicious buffet. After dinner, we headed back to our room to pack. The Internet was fast and I also spent some time uploading photos to my blog before going to sleep.

We got up at 7 and got ready. We went to breakfast at 8. I had fruit and yogurt, scrambled eggs, toast, juice, and coffee. As soon as we were done, the others were ready to leave. Tammy and I quickly finished packing and got ready to go. We paid our bill and loaded up.  We took a few pictures before we left. We had to drive all the way back to Windhoek that day. It was a long bumpy ride on the dirt/rock/sand road.  We stopped for lunch/snack at Solitaire. We weren’t really hungry so Tammy and I split a chocolate croissant, which was delicious. We all enjoyed using the internet because it did not work well at the Elegant Desert Lodge. We then hopped back in for another 3.5 hours or something like that. Kelvin and Sandra went straight to the Trans Kalahari Inn, but Tammy’s parents, Tammy, and I went to get lunch. We drove into Windhoek and looked around. Tammy was looking up options on her phone. We got up at 4:30 to get ready. We picked up our lunches from the main building. The same woman who checked us in at 4pm a was serving dinner until at least 9pm was also passing out lunches at 5am! Tammy’s parents, Kelvin, Sandra, Tammy, and I all piled into our vehicle to drive 45 minutes to the hot air balloon place. It was super dark and we could see many stars. When we arrived, we were all half asleep. They had coffee, tea, health shots, and crunchies (South African cookie bar made with oats) for us to eat while we waited. It was chilly, but we were okay in our down jackets. We met our pilot Ivo, and listened to the instructions. We went to the bathroom and got into the bus that would drive us to the launch site. There were 12 passengers per balloon and 4 balloons. Ten people fit into each shuttle bus. It sounded like a math problem!
